Common Ground Relief is a state and federally registered 501c3 not-for-profit organization providing short term relief for victims of hurricane disasters in the Gulf Coast region and long term support in rebuilding the communities affected in the New Orleans area.

Our Wetlands Restoration program is busily planning for the next planting season. We've signed a partnership with the Restore the Earth Foundation, and in the fall we will begin planting the tens of thousands of Cypress and Bottomland Hardwood trees from our nursery into Bayous around the Gulf Coast.

Our Legal Clinic is expanding! As of July 1st, the Common Ground Relief Legal Clinic, L.L.C. is open from 9-3 on Wednesdays, from 12-8pm on Thursdays and Fridays and from 12-4 on Saturdays. To find our more about our services, click here.

In addition, we're happy to have Ben Varadi join us as the Legal Clinic's new full time Staff Attorney. Back in 2006 Ben joined CGR as our Tech Coordinator. Since then he has graduated with Honors from Tulane Law School while volunteering with countless New Orleans based organizations.

Our newly constructed carpentry shop provides a venue for locals to learn skills such as kitchen cabinetry and furniture construction. Our work-crew coordinator Sam is heading up the shop, if you have relevant skills and experience and would be interested to join him in teaching carpentry, contact us

Additionally, our Advocacy Center will be providing tax preparation services in early 2012. If you have a background in bookkeeping or accounting, we'd love for you to volunteer with us at that time.
