Our Work

We are in the process of rebuilding houses and need volunteers who possess specific skills such as drywall hanging, drywall taping and mudding, drywall finishing, millwork installation and house painting. We are also doing interior framing work and sub-floor installation. If your school has a Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering program, you might contact those departments for volunteers. Please choose your group participants based on their skill level and their ability to quickly learn a skill. We suggest that you contact your local Lowes or other home improvement store for training. Local home building contractors in your area might also be able to provide training.

Most groups of volunteers do a variety of work — a typical week involves construction, wetlands plantings, community gardening, working with a partner organization and members of your group assisting in the preparation of meals and the general cleaning of Common Ground Relief housing.

Common Ground Relief requests a donation of $20 per person per day to help offset the cost of housing, three meals per day and work crew coordination. There may be an additional charge for materials depending on the work you plan to do.
