Bike for the Gulf!
CGR co-founder Malik Rahim is biking from Louisiana to Washington D.C. to raise awareness for wetlands restoration. Learn more here!
| On Thursday, July 15, Common Ground Relief co-founder and Board Member Malik Rahim stopped by the Anita Roddick Advocacy Center as he bikes from Houma, Louisiana to Washington D.C.
Malik hopes his 1,600 mile long bike ride will draw attention to the ongoing environmental crisis facing the wetlands of the Gulf Coast: “Now more than ever, our wetlands need to be rebuilt,” he said.” People need to know that Louisiana’s rate of wetlands loss of a football–sized piece of land every 37 minutes has increased exponentially by the spewing BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.” Accompanied by his BP voodoo doll, Malik hopes to reach Washington D.C. on September 22. He will be providing updates on his journey at www.BikeForTheGulf.org and through his Twitter feed.
