People's Freedom Caravan Stops to Celebrate in Congo Square
NEW ORLEANS - At this moment, buses of people who believe that a better United States is possible are moving across America. These buses belong to the People's Freedom Caravan, a mobile social justice effort created in memory of the first Freedom Ride in Jackson, Miss., 46 years ago . On Monday, the caravan stopped in Congo Square, and grassroots organizers and community leaders from New Mexico, San Antonio and Texas joined New Orleans-based groups to rally in preparation for the United States Social Forum in Atlanta.
